Richard Davis

Richard Emanuel Davis passed away Tuesday morning September 30, 2014. Richard Emanuel Davis was born March 14, 1949 in Independence, KS to Emanuel and Nettie Davis. He attended and graduated from local schools and continued his education at Independence Community College and then Friends University, receiving a bachelors degree in social work. Richard was employed by Wichita State University before moving to San Francisco where he was employed by the Urban League, he then returned to Independence finding employment with Skill. Richard Emanuel Davis is survived by a son Derrick Anna Davis of Richmond, VA 5 brothers, Terry Davis, William Turner, both of Independence Louis Davis of Kansas City, KS Ronnie Davis of Coffeyville, KS and Tim Davis of Phoenix, AZ 2 sisters, Linda Ellerbe of Fayetteville, NC and Ruby Preston of Pinole, CA and a grandchild Mya Davis. Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother and a brother Bobby Davis.
A gathering with friends and family will be held on Sunday October 5, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Webb Rodrick Chapel.. A tribute to Richards life will be held on Monday October 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at Webb Rodrick Chapel Richard will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery.
