Richard Lee Trollope known by his friends as Rick, passed away at the age of 72 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehab Center on June 26, 2020.
Rick was born in Independence on January 19, 1948 to Leonard and Ruby (Glass) Trollope. Rick attended local schools and Independence High School where he enjoyed playing basketball for the Bulldogs. He continued his education at Independence Community College where he earned his associate degree. Rick found employment at various places, StarCraft, Coca Cola, Hackney, Jiffy Mart, and Messengers Furniture. Richard was united in marriage to Judith Wilson she preceded him in death. In 2014 he married Connie McGaugh and old classmate from grade school. They enjoyed many years together. Rick enjoyed working cross word puzzles, reading, watching television, and watching K-State basketball. Rick will be remembered for his constant contagious smile, his kind soul, his dry humor and how he loved to play jokes, and the love he had for his nieces and nephews.
Rick’s memories will live on with his wife Connie, stepsons; Marty Earley his wife Teresa and Tim Earley, his brother Jerry Trollope his wife Dyann, nieces and nephews, and 5 step-grandchildren.
He now rests with his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 11:00am at Webb and Rodrick Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and pay their respects on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made payable to AWOL, P.O.
