Ronald Ashford

Ronald (Ronnie) Gene Ashford passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2020. He was 75.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Grace Memorial United Methodist Church and may be left with the chapel.

Ronnie was born February 17, 1945 in Independence, Kansas to Jack Walton and Amy Louise Phillips Ashford. In 1963 Ronnie married Marsha Anne (Banion) and they made their home in Independence. They raised two children, Rhonda Jean and Jack Christopher.

He proudly served his country as a United States Navy man during Vietnam (1962-1968). He was equally proud of his Choctaw Native American roots. He was a truck driver most of his life and retired from Fed Ex in 2017. He attended Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.

Ronnie will live on in the lives of his loving wife Marsha, two children: Rhonda (Lon) and Chris (Melissa), 12 Grandchildren; Justin, Ashley, Amanda, Jacob, Trevor, Jordan, Matt, Samantha, Amanda, Ida, Kassidi, and Chase, and 19 Great Grandchildren.

HE is also survived by five siblings: Gary, Larry, Dwight, Katherine, and Kay.
