Ruby Maxine Fiscus, 87, of Mound Valley, Kansas died Sunday November 19, 2017 at home. Funeral services for Ruby will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. Friends may register on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or Mound Valley United Methodist Church and may be left with the chapel.
Ruby was born on October 24, 1930 to Leland and Harriet (Parker) Kingsbury in Fredonia, Kansas. She married Jesse Fiscus on February 14, 1949. They lived in Montgomery County and raised five children. They divorced in 1990.
She loved to have her children visit and spent most of her time in the kitchen making sure everyone had enough to eat. Her quilting hobby kept her hands busy, as she made a quilts for all members of the family. She worked outside the home at Automotive Control Corporation in Independence, Kansas for 27 years, retiring in 1993. She attended Mound Valley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Leland Fiscus and wife Christine of Norman, OK, Mike Fiscus of Mound Valley, KS, Ronnie Fiscus and wife Jeanne of Mound Valley, KS; one daughter, Marilyn LaRose of Mound Valley, KS; one son-in-law, Ronnie Hinman of Keifer, OK; three brothers, Leland Jr Kingsbury of Independence, KS, Elmer Kingsbury of Olathe, KS, John Kingsbury of Castroville, TX; two sisters, Edith Mitchell of Hemet, CA, and Helen Anderson of Independence, KS; two half-sisters, Linda Dodson, and Carolyn Fowler of Benedict, KS; four grandsons, Lee and Darryl Fiscus, Joe Hinman, and Joshua Fiscus; three granddaughters, Buffy Burton, Melinda Taylor, and Tami Schepmann; seven great grandchildren, Andrea Hinman, Meredith and Tristian Taylor, Jaya and Jolee Fiscus, Teagan and Tacy Schepmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Hinman; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Fiscus; a granddaughter, Kyra Fiscus; a great grandson, Lakota Hinman; three sisters, Mary Conley, Enda Troutman, and Patricia Kingsbury.
