Vera Vestal

Vera Evelyn Vestal, 93, Longton, Kansas passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at home. Graveside Services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September, 22, 2015 at Longton Cemetery, Longton Kansas with Chaplin Mike Graham of Harry Hynes officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the Chapel. Vera was born October 29, 1921 in Fredonia, Kansas to Clyde Olen and Alice Eveline (Shaw) Newbill. Vera was a big sister to two younger brothers, Ray and Jay. They grew up in Yates Center, Kansas. After moving to Longton, Kansas Vera met Loren Vestal, and they were married on October 29, 1939. Vera loved to cook and sew. She made many quilts for the family. Vera worked for ACC for 27 years while living on a farm south of Longton, Kansas.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loren, two brothers, Ray and Jay Newbill. Those let to treasure her memory include one son Ronald Lee Vestal and wife Barbara Jo of Longton, Kansas, three granddaughters, Alisa Joy and husband Mark Ashenfelter, Longton, KS; Julie Ann and husband Kyler Dowell, Longton, KS; Polly Renee and husband Adam Gross, Springhill, KS, eight grand children, Madison, Callie Abbie, and Sydney Ashenfelter, Isaiah Vestal, Elijah and Mikah Dowell, and Benjamin Gross. Arrangements by Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory.
