Virginia L. MacRae, Independence, passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022, at 1:00pm at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Burial will follow at Harrisonville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 1:00-7:00pm, with family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00pm. Memorials are suggested to the Hope Church, 301 N. McGee, Caney, KS 67333. These can also be left with the funeral home.
Virginia L. MacRae was born on November 11th, 1940. She was the daughter of Ray and Alta (Smith) Riley. She grew up in Independence. On November 11th, 1988, she married the love of her life, Colin Don MacRae at the Elk City Lake.
She was member of the Independence Garden Club, helped organize and served as President of the Independence Investment Club, Bolton 4-H and the Bolton Quilting Group. She enjoyed playing the organ at the First Christian Church, the First United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. She loved to grow plants and all animals.
Those preceding her in death are her parents, sisters: Jewel Riley, Betty Ann Riley, Alice Riley and Eunice Riley; brother Raymond Riley and stepson Kenneth MacRae.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Colin, stepdaughter Brenda MacRae, stepsons: Brian MacRae, Scot MacRae, and Robert MacRae, and 8 grandchildren.
