Vivian Charlene (Jones, Kennard) Steele,86, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away on October 12, 2020 at Cherryvale Senior Living.
Charlene was born on April 16, 1934 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Charles L. and Ethel (Lewis) Jones. Charlene graduated from Cherryvale High School and then attend Labette County Community College. Charlene married Dean C. Kennard on September 3, 1954 and enjoyed 32 years of marriage until his passing in October of 1986. She then married Bill Steele in April of 1991. He passed in February of 2015. She worked as a secretary at Tuxedo Assembly, and Phillips 66, until retiring. Charlene was an active member & participated in the Praise Team at First Assembly in Independence, since 2002. She was previously a member and choir director at Tuxedo Assembly in Bartlesville. She loved to spend her time caring for her family, cooking, painting, singing and helping at the church.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Dean C. Kennard, and Bill Steele, siblings, Sharon Miller, Don Jones, and Marilyn Jones.
Charlene’s memory will carry on with her daughter, Debbie Kennard and grandson, Jeremy Harris of Bartlesville, OK, step children, Cindy and Dave Savage of Renton, WA, Tim and Beth Steele of Grand Rapids, MI, and Missy and Zac Milne of Everett, WA, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with two on the way, brothers, John Paul Jones of Texas and Bob (Marian) Jones of Oregon. A celebration of Charlene’s life will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 2414 N. 8th St., Independence, KS 67301 on October 28th at 10:00 AM.
