Wanda Kay Thomason was called to our Lord, on Monday, June 14, 2021, at her home in Independence, Kansas. Reciting of the Rosary will take place at Webb and Rodrick Chapel at 6:00 pm, Sunday, June 20th with the family greeting friends immediately following until 8:00 pm. Mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Monday, June 21st at 10:00 am with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.
Wanda was born in Cherryvale, Kansas on January 16, 1943, to Walter and Lillian (George) Davis. She attended the Cherryvale school system graduating from Cherryvale High School in 1960. On July 2, 1963, Wanda married Fred Lawson. From this union, the two welcomed a son, Steve Lawson. The two were married 33 years until his passing on May 17, 1997. She then married Bill Thomason on September 30, 2000, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. He passed in 2002.
Wanda worked for USD 446 as one of the first teaching assistants, she also worked at St. Andrew Catholic School. She loved to go shopping, make ceramics and crafts, but most of all she loved to travel. During her many travels she was always bringing back mugs, shot glasses and other gifts to her family to commemorate her trip.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lillian Davis, husband, Fred Lawson, husband, William Thomason, brother, Jim Davis, and nephew, Danny Davis.
Her memory will carry on with her son, Steve Lawson and wife Ronda, granddaughter, Megan Lawson, grandsons, Ryon, and Ian Lawson, and cousins, Mike George, Jim Davis, and Tim Davis. To leave the family a special message of condolence, please visit, www.webbrodrickfuneralhome.com.
