William Michael Britt gained his heavenly wings on November 12, 2021 at the Medicalodes in Independence, Kansas.
The family is requiring masks to be worn to the Celebration of Life Services which will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Friends may leave online condolences at www.webbrodrickchapel.com.
The family has suggested memorials to the Disabled American Veterans and contributions may be left at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel.
Mike as he liked to be called was born January 15, 1948 to Oscar Britt Sr. and Frances (Smith) Britt in Independence, Kansas. Mike gave his life to Christ as a young boy in the Baptist Church. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and graduated from the Independence High School in 1962. In 1965 Mike went into the Job Corp and then served in the United States Army receiving many metals including, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze State Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon “2”, NCO Professional Development Ribbon “1”, Army Commendation Medal W/1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal W/3 Bronze Stars, Expert (M-16 Rifle & Hand Grenade). Retiring from the Untied States Army Reserves in 2008. Mike worked at Prestige and Neodesha Plastics.
Mike was married to Linda Britt and the couple later divorced. He then married Arlen Britt. Mike was a very loving Father, Husband and Grandpa. He loved working on puzzles, fishing, traveling and his Cowboy pictures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters and one son Jared Paul Britt. Survivors include his wife Arlene of the home; Children William “Will” Britt and wife Trisha of Coffeyville, Kansas, Christopher Britt and wife Ashley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Melissa Britt of Independence, Kansas; step sons Keenan McCoy and Tony McCoy of Independence, Kansas; 3 grandchildren and two step grandchildren; 3 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.
